A message from ATS President, Brent Anderson, asking for your partnership in helping keep America’s supply chain moving during this unprecedented time of uncertainty.
Dear ATS Customers, Communities and Industry Partners,
As I write this communication, my news feed fills with announcements of public areas being closed across America. The COVID-19 crisis is most certainly an occurrence the likes of which none of us have ever seen in our lifetimes. We can never be too careful.
At the same time, the crisis has also led to unprecedented demands for critical medical, household and food supplies. And in the middle of it all, we depend on America’s Truck Drivers to get them where they need to go.
I’m writing today to ask for your help.
Because while we must take all the necessary precautions to safeguard our people and slow down the spread of COVID-19, please let us not forget that we must also open and maintain pathways for those that are still out there, working tirelessly to stock your shelves, fulfill your online orders and satisfy our growing demand for products and services. Today, states began closing down highway rest areas. These are critical areas for Drivers to safely stop and get much-needed rest before picking up the next load of critical supplies for our stores. Restaurants across the country are closed; food supplies at grocery stores are now low, or gone altogether. For a Driver on the road, all of these are dire for their mere survival.
Given the fast-growing scarcity of available resources to sustain over-the-road Drivers’ success in helping America through this crisis, here are a few ideas of how you can help:
- Support America’s Truck Drivers — no matter what they’re hauling or who they’re hauling it for
- Keep your supply chains moving so we have food and supplies
- Provide parking and overnight rest space through the crisis, if possible
- Make basic services available, when possible – i.e. restrooms
- Heed recommended social distancing practices
- Limit contact as much as possible
- Use good hygiene practices
ATS and our world-class team of Drivers stand ready to move life-saving and sustaining supplies across the country to support your supply chains and you and your families at home and at work until — and far beyond — when America is ‘back to normal.’ In this unprecedented time of uncertainty, however, we need to come together as supply chain partners to help ensure the critical resources we depend on have the support they need to do their jobs.
Thank you for your patience, creativity and, above all, your support of America’s Truck Drivers now, and every day.
